An RTO heater quotation can only be accurate when the supplier understands the operating modes. First, what is the gas flow during cold startup, normal production, turndown, and purge? A single maximum-flow number does not show the complete thermal duty or the risk at minimum airflow.

Second, what temperatures apply at the heater inlet, outlet, element sheath, chamber, and emergency limit? The normal process setpoint is not necessarily the design temperature. Third, what does the gas contain? Solvents, oxygen, moisture, acid-forming species, dust, silicone, and other contaminants can influence materials, deposits, and safety decisions.

Fourth, how will power be controlled? Provide supply voltage, phase, frequency, available electrical capacity, desired stages, modulation signal, and the RTO sequence. Clarify whether the electrical panel is supplied by Runkel, the RTO manufacturer, or another integrator. Fifth, what are the mechanical constraints? Drawings should show duct dimensions, flange pattern, flow direction, available insertion length, access space, insulation, and support points.

Additional project data should include local codes, hazardous-area requirements if applicable, operating pressure, pressure-drop limit, ambient conditions, documentation language, inspection requirements, and spare-parts expectations. Answering these questions early reduces revisions and helps Runkel develop a heater that fits the equipment mechanically, electrically, and thermally.

The quotation should also define the documentation package. Depending on the project, the customer may require outline drawings, wiring diagrams, material certificates, inspection records, resistance data, pressure-test reports for associated vessels, or recommended spare-parts lists. Agreeing these requirements before production avoids delays during inspection and shipment.

Finally, clarify how the heater will be commissioned. The RTO manufacturer should establish the purge, fan, damper, temperature, alarm, and shutdown sequence. Runkel can provide heater-specific electrical and thermal information, but the integrator remains responsible for validating the complete system. A joint technical review before manufacture is particularly valuable for high-power or space-constrained projects.
